Detling Love

So as I said in the last post, I've been to a show at Detling this weekend (despite my body screwing up my going on sunday), and the last day was Monday as it was a bank holiday.
I had a wonderful time there, and yesterday was actually satisfyingly productive. I made a butter knife, a smaller spoon, three wool needles which broke and one that works, and two toggles! I'm very satisfied with my day's work, even if it did screw my eyes up a bit. Of course I can't wear my glasses otherwise I wouldn't be authentic, and I can't wear contacts because they tend to disagree with me. But it was very fun.
And OMG there's a girl there called Beth, and she makes the most AMAZING food ever! (not that I like food or anything... :P) But seriously! The first night she made this wonderful chicken stew over a fire in a giant pot, and then she made mackerel paté for lunch on Monday and THEN she'd made an authentic cake! Without a recipe O_O Just with ingredients! And it tasted absolutely amazing. I absolutely felt like I was in heaven xD I am hopefully going to be retriveing the recipe from her soon =D YAY!!!
Anyway, putting talk about food aside... I smell like woodsmoke, and so do my clothes and so does my bed xD So I feel there will be lots of washing today. The first load is in the washing machine already, and I've had a shower and washed my hair twice, and it still smells of smoke xD But I quite like the smell so I don't mind so much.
Also, the house is a mess o.o; I swear I've not been away that long and there's a huge pile of washing up and the sides are filthy! Oh well xD
Now I'm going to grab some fudge which I bought (rum and raisen, yum!) and shall say goodbye ^^

Re-enacting and Being a Woman

Okay, so I'm part of a re-enactment society called Milites de Bec, and have been part of it for almost a year now. However, I've only in the last two or three weeks begun fighting as a warrior, before that I'd been just doing crafts. Now I'm doing wood whittling, sewing, and fighting. And oooooh fighting is so much better than I ever knew! I'm going to invest in my own spear and everything >3
This weekend there is a big show in Detling, and I was going to stay on the wic (the authentic re-enactment site bit) but, of course, my womanly body had other ideas and struck me down with very poorly timed pain. So I went on saturday and had a great time - I made my own Knife (and yes damnit that DOES need a capital letter!), I did some more sewing on my tunic, and I bought some fabric to make a new tunic. I was hoping to sleep there, but my traitorous body had other ideas. And so, I came home for the night and then couldn't get out of bed this morning for tiredness and pain. So I'm currently at home and just hoping my body behaves itself enough to let me go again tomorrow.
I really can't wait!

I can't help copying!

Okay, so I stole the blog thing from my friend Viki, just a few days after she started hers xD
Also, her's is goood o.o Mine's just going to be me complaining or celebrating or whatever is in my head for that moment xD So, sorry in advance!
"Searing Wings" is probably a weird title, but I bet there are much, much weirder ones out there, so I won't dwell on it. I picked the name (aside from the reason that many others I tried were taken) because it speaks to me. I live in the hope that it speaks to some other people too, for whatever reason.
I think that I'll leave this opening blog here, so the first one is literally just an opening paragraph type jobbie!
